The Apple vs. Microsoft Debate Is Over

Thursday, May 18, 2017

For years it has seemed that you have to be one way or the either; Apple or Microsoft. If you were a nineties kid, then you more than likely had Windows 95 at home and at school. But there was always that one kid in your class that had a shiny new Apple Mac at home. The colorful and funky kind that was the first release after Steve Jobs decided to return back to Apple. Even then as kids at school there could be arguments over what was the best one to have. It seemed that an air of exclusivity was enough for a bunch of twelve-year-olds to think that Apple was better. It was just more rare, right?

But nowadays, this is not the case at all. In fact, there are iMacs and MacBook laptops in most households, as well as an Android or Microsoft device. So it seems that we are no longer divided in the Apple versus Microsoft debate. Is that with good reason? I think that that debate is over! While you might be faithful to one company over another, there is no denying that the technology is on par for both at the moment.

The Operating Systems Are Both Good Quality

If you’ve been a faithful Mac user for a while now, you better believe that Windows have stepped up their game, and although it may operate slightly differently, there is a lot to like. Things like touch screen devices and Cortana to name a couple. But for Mac, there are also great features of the operating system, like the stability it has, the overall performance, and the modern day wizardry connecting your iPhone to your MacBook, such as iMessage. Both of them fill the niche that they are set out to fill. So for me, there really isn’t an argument about it anymore. You might be a loyalist or a bit of a die-hard fan of one system over the other, but they can both exist and work well for their purpose.

All About The Service

For most things, when you’re a consumer, the service is what is going to keep you going back for more or staying loyal with one brand over the other, for instance. But it is still simple to swap between a Mac and a PC. As they are both up on the same page, you don’t have to stress about moving over documents when they’re stored in the cloud, or need to fuss with syncing music between each computer. Things like Spotify can be accessible on both a Mac and a PC, as well as cell phone devices.

Cost can still be a factor for many, as Apple does still tend to be on the more expensive side (unless you chose to get something like a refurbished Macbook Pro, for example). However, Microsoft has upped their game and are making more office apps available for Android and iPhones, so if you wanted to switch things up and change brand at a later date, you could do that really easily.

At the end of the day, it is important to note that you don’t owe the brands or companies anything. You can sit, relax, and let them do the hard work for you.
