What You Will Be Doing

  • Develop architecture, software design and code for scalable backend services optimise code for optimal performance
  • Architect, design, develop and expose scalable backend services, SDK or Rest APIs to run in multi-agent enterprise environment and capable of handling high traffic
  • Architect, design and develop complex multi-tenant enterprise software components with a focus on fault-tolerance and scale
  • Work with our product team and customers to turn business requirements into released product functionality using database stored procedures written in PL/SQL & SQL
  • Ensure optimal database performance (including configuration, database tuning, data model, optimising business logic and queries)
  • Research and advise on database technologies / solutions in support of both near and long term product road map
  • Understand key business and product objectives and remain current on storage and backup products industry
  • Drive a culture of quality, technical curiosity, continuous improvement, and evidence-based decision making in the organisation.
  • Automate testing and development of software modules to a high quality standard
  • Debug and solve complex problems either individually
  • Participate on an Agile scrum team, performing peer reviews and mentoring less experienced team members
  • Productively work in highly collaborative agile team, coach junior team members, actively participate in knowledge sharing

What skills, experience and education you need as a team member to succeed:

  • 8+ years of full-stack Software Engineering experience and current expertise in JAVA, fullstack, RDBMS with at least 5 years in backend services, PL/SQL development.
  • BS degree in Computer Science is minimum, MS in Computer Science is preferred
  • Expertise in object-oriented and service-oriented design, and multi-threaded service/application development
  • Extensive experience of data / object modelling, data normalisation, and data analysis
  • Knowledge of concurrency patterns
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Experience in creating database schemas, stored procedures and writing optimised queries
  • Experience building cloud architectures that include multi-tenancy, horizontal scale, micro-services, containers, and RESTful APIs
  • Agile development methodologies including peer review, test automation and continuous integration
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work with high-performing teams and challenge yourself and the team to improve further
  • Sense of ownership is paramount to achieving success.

Highly Desired

  • Hands on experience of working on storage sub-systems, data-protection and cloud technologies.
  • Familiarity with micro-services and knowledge of modern cloud services (Azure, AWS).
  • Experience in NoSQL databases (e.g. MongoDB, Cassandra)
  • Experience with very large databases
